Submit your Sales, Events, Promotions, etc… for the next Newsletter that will go out to shoppers wanting information about Downtown Alexandria! This is an excellent opportunity to promote your business directly to customers who have done business with you or other downtown merchants! How Often will we send the Newsletter?

The Downtown Merchants Association will send out a public newsletter by email to all subscribers on the 1st of each month. This public newsletter will contain all information submitted by the Downtown Merchants about their promotions, sales, and events as well as our usual promotions and events such as the Fall Festival and Hometown Christmas Experience. We plan to continue this indefinitely.

Why are we doing this?

We believe that this activity will help the downtown merchants be more engaged with our customers and help keep them informed about sales, promotions, and events in our stores thus providing a better shopping experience and more business for downtown Alexandria!

Who will the Newsletter be sent to?

The newsletter will be sent by email to people who have provided their email address and wish to receive the newsletter. Anyone who is on the list and does not wish to be can easily unsubscribe at any time. This will not be a spam list and no one will receive the newsletter if they do not wish to receive it.

The DMA website already has the capability to collect email addresses when people visit the website but we would like to be more proactive with collecting email addresses of potential customers and so we would like our members to help collect new email addresses.

A postcard sized form will be provided for your customers to fill out while they are in your store. We’d like you to have these available at your checkout counters and ask your customers to write their email addresses on them. Please bring completed forms to the DMA board or your block leader. Or you may enter those email addresses directly into the DMA website. It’s extremely easy! Just go to www.downtownalexandria.com and enter the email address and the persons name in the upper right and click the “Sign up” button.

Who is sending the Newsletter?

The DMA Board is handling this process. The process consists of assembling the Newsletter each month and scheduling it to be emailed as well as maintenance of the email list. This will be one of the benefits of being a member of the Downtown Merchants Association.

What do we need from the Merchants?

  1. Please help us build the email list by helping collect email addresses from your customers. The bigger the list the more powerful this marketing campaign will be.
  2. Submit your sales, promotions, and events each month to help your store get more advertising. The more you communicate with your potential customers the more you will sell!
