August General Membership Meeting Minutes
Friday, August 26th, 2016- Raapers

Call to order at 8:00 am and members welcomed by Joe.

Reports of the Board
Secretary’s Report. September Newsletter will be sent next Friday, Sept. 2nd to 907 recipients. A reminder will go out to membership on Monday. Please reply to reminder with your store’s info./offers for September.

Treasurer’s Report. Account balance as of July 31st, 2016 is $20,606.04. Income for July = $1,692.04 (dues, beautification, Events/Promotions, water sales). Expenses in July totaled $3,595.98 (social media- Events & Promotions, operating).

Committee Reports
Events/Future Promotions. James thanked all those who helped make the summer events so successful. Becky explained the upcoming Fall Festival/GNO, Shoppers “Hunt & Gather” Weekend, and Hometown Christmas events. Participation forms will be handed out today and the deadline to register for events is next Friday, Sept. 2nd. Please call Becky (320-766-0212) or Lynelle (320-766-1107) with any questions.
Membership. Joe updated on new memberships and encouraged all members to speak to their neighbor merchants and invite them to join. He also suggested all merchants check their business info. on the DMA website and submit any necessary changes/updates to Jeff Meland.

Streets Projects Review & Update
Tim Schoonhoven updated membership on the various ongoing city street projects and estimated completion dates. He also touched on future projects for summer 2017 and even some info. for 2018! He reviewed the “Missing Link” study as well and shared some feedback from this demo project.

Announcements from Membership/Items from Floor
*Joe noted the nice representation we had at the meeting from the Chamber, AAEDC, City of Alexandria, Explore Alexandria Tourism, and DMAmembership! Nice to see everyone coming together.Jeff Lanoue from Past and Present Home Gallery is a new Chamber board member as well.
*Megan Chisholm (ALP) informed group that ALP has fiber internet available for $19 a month. Currently the 600 block is covered, but 500 block is soon to follow. She also noted that ALP is having discussions about how they might be involved in a Holiday Light Parade.
*Mike Weber noted that 80% of 2015-16 snow removal invoices have been paid. Please submit your payment ASAP. Next month’s membership meetingwill include the snow removal meeting between the city and business owners.
*Tara from the Chamber invited everyone to the Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Luncheon at ATCC on September 26th. Jeff Gau from Marco will be speaking on ‘keeping your employees engaged and connected to your business’.
*Sara Stadher invited all to City Hall today @ 10:00 am for an economic workforce development project.
*Joe K. noted KXRA’s “You PickEm’ ” football promo. There are 5 open spots; contact your sales rep if interested.
*Tara shared some positive comments from Chamber visitors about our downtown area.
